Cricut Project: Eid Gift Bag (with free SVG)

The next of my Cricut Ramadan Projects is up. This week I’m bringing you a reusable/personalised gift bag. One of the best bits of Eid is decorating the house and getting it into that ‘festive’ feel. We didn’t really decorate our house when I was a child, but it was always sparkling clean with the smell of Mr Sheen hanging in the air and a plateful of chicken pastries and samosas on the dining table waiting to be stuck into after a quick trip to the mosque for Eid prayers (or snuck in a pocket to eat on the way…) I still use Mr Sheen and it doesn’t feel like Eid until I’ve cleaned the table with it! But since the rise of decorating and gift giving (this was a smaller part of Eid celebrations as a child, we tended to just get money!), I’ve also been really conscious of the environment and the choices I make to not consume too much. One of the little changes I made recently was doing away with the wrapping paper.

Sadly a lot of wrapping paper is not recyclable, and even though I swapped to brown paper (which is recyclable) I still wanted to capture the fun of something colourful. So I made a personalised set of canvas gift bags for the little people in my lives. I loved that I could make that the centrepiece of the Eid table for my daughter and fill it with small things and sweet treats, but more than that- she could use it again and again and again! Plus, like I’ve mentioned- it’s still a novelty that I can create personalised items no matter the name/spelling.

Onto the SVG/cut file. As ever, the cut files (SVG) are completely free for you to download and use (for personal use). You’ll find the files to download here and I’ll also link it through the the blog tutorial over on the Cricut UK Blog.

The design has a gap in the middle for you to put in a name in whichever font you fancy!

You can use any heat transfer vinyl or even infusible ink on compatible Cricut blanks! I think this would look cute on a personalised make up bag/pencil case too!
